7TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
19TH FEBRUARY 2012

Response to the Psalm:
Heal my soul for I have sinned against you.

Gospel Acclamation:
Alleluia, alleluia!
The Word was made flesh and lived among us;
to all who did accept him
he gave power to become children of God
Alleluia!

ASH WEDNESDAY
As Lent begins, we shall have the blessing and distribution of Ashes on Wednesday. Lent is our preparation for the greatest Feast of the Year - the Feast of Christ’s Resurrection.

Holy Mass on Wednesday will be at:

(1) Hadleigh at 9.30am
(2) Sudbury at 7.30pm

LENTEN FAST
The sufferings and the poverty of people (Christian and Muslim) in the Holy Land goes on. The Catholic Patriarch of Jerusalem, Archbishop Fouad Twal, looks to all of us to help provide food, medicine and education for his people. Our Parish Pastoral Council has agreed that this year’s Lenten Observance should try and answer their call. As you leave the Church today, you will be offered plastic wallets in which we invite you to place the monies each week from your acts of self-denial this Lent.

At the end of Lent (Palm Sunday), please return your contributions in the plastic wallet. All monies will be sent to Archbishop Fouad Twal.

RE-OPENING OF ST JOSEPH’S HALL
The re-opening of the newly refurbished Hall at St Joseph’s in Hadleigh has been re-scheduled to SHROVE TUESDAY, 21ST FEBRUARY. There will be a celebration of Mass at 7.00pm followed by a Buffet Supper in the Hall. All are welcome.

A coach will go from Sudbury (free!) departing at 6.00pm. If you wish to go by coach, please give your name to Nancy Harries after Mass today.

JUSTICE & PEACE GROUP

The Justice & Peace meeting scheduled for last Sunday was postponed due to the snow. A new date will be announced.

WOMEN’S WORLD DAY OF PRAYER
The theme of this year’s DAY OF PRAYER is “Let Justice Prevail” prepared by Christian Women of Malaysia. On Friday, 2nd March services will take place at:

HADLEIGH: St Joseph’s Church at 2.30pm
SUDBURY:  Sudbury Baptist Church at 10.00am

PRAYERS FOR A NEW BISHOP
Please do continue to pray for a good and pastoral Bishop to be appointed to our Diocese. Also pray for Father David Bagstaff who is currently looking after the Diocese as Diocesan Administrator.

THE WAY OF THE CROSS DURING LENT
During Lent, we will pray the Way of the Cross each Friday evening (beginning this Friday) at 6.00pm in Sudbury and on Sunday afternoons at 5.00pm in Hadleigh.

God be in my head,
and in my understanding;
God be in my eyes,
and in my looking;
God be in my mouth,
and in my speaking;
God be in my heart,
and in  my thinking;
God be at my end,
and at my departing.
